What is Microneedling?

Microneedling stimulates the skin to repair and rejuvenate itself naturally and safely resulting in skin which looks smoother, younger, brighter and healthier. The device penetrates the skin resulting in superficial micro-injuries. This forces the skin to heal and stimulates collagen and elastin production resulting in brighter and plumper skin. You can opt to combine microneedling with either Clinicare or Purasomes. The choice will depend on your preference and skin  requirements.

Cliniccare EGF: A mesotherapy serum which will either have an anti-pigmentation, anti-aging or hydrating effect. All serums contain 20mg/ml of hyaluronic acid.
If proceeding with Clinicare, we perform a 6 step skin cleanse including painless targeted enzyme peel. Then we will deliver microneedling using cliniccare mesotherapy serum, followed by face mask and moisturiser.

Purasomes: a specially formulated serum consisting of 20 billion exosomes (protein messengers) and 20 growth factors. The Exosomes are ethically sourced from bovine colostrum and undergo a stringent purification process, resulting in a serum containing over 250 bioactive elements. Depending on your preference, the Purasomes can prioritise improvement in pigmentation or in strength and structure.
If proceeding with Purasomes, your skin will be cleansed and microneedling will be delivered using the Purasomes serum.

What can it treat?

Microneedling can be used to treat both the face, neck and décolletage. It can improve fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, large pores, photo damage, uneven skin tone, scarring and
loss of elasticity

Before Your Appointment

Prior to the appointment, you should not drink alcoholic or caffeinated beverages for at least 24 hours, and to stop applying tretinoin for at least 48 hours. You should avoid medications which can increase your risk of bleeding, like NSAIDs or aspirin, unless advised by your doctor in which case you should discuss with your practitioner.

Side Effects and Results

The most common side-effect of microneedling is dry skin a few days after treatment. This quickly resolves and your clinician will discuss side effects during your consultation.
Other common side effects include redness, flushing, tightness, tenderness, itchiness, swelling, stinging and pinpoint bleeding. These usually resolve in a few hours, but it may take a few days for some patients’ skin to return to normal.
Results should be visible as soon as 5 days after treatment, but best results are seen after 6 weeks.
Your clinician will advise the best treatment plan tailored to your needs, but we  usually  recommend at least 3 sessions every 3-6 weeks initially, followed by 3 sessions every 6-12months.

What is Microneedling?
  • Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, utilises a handheld device with 9 needles to superficially puncture the skin. It is combined with either Cliniccare or Purasomes.
  • The superficial injury stimulates a healing response resulting in increased collagen and elastin. In addition to the microneedling, we simultaneously use either Cliniccare or Purasomes.
  • Cliniccare offer a range of specially formulated serums with a mixture of ingredients to aid in depigmenting, moisturising, firming and rejuvenating the skin. It consists of low molecular weight hyaluronic acid to deeply moisturise the skin, arbutin to manage uneven skin tone, acetyl hexapeptide to lift and tighten the skin, panax ginseng to strengthen the skin and restore its barrier function and many others including anti-oxidants, growth peptides and collagen stimulators. It is 100% vegan.
  • Purasomes are a cutting edge technology in regenerative medicine. It is a serum made of 20 billion exosomes and 20 potent growth factors. The exosomes carry important cellular information, including lipids, nucleic acids and proteins. When penetrating the skin, they promote cellular communication and rebuild the extra cellular matrix, essentially slowing down and possibly reversing the ageing process. They trigger fibroblasts to produce more collagen elastin to improve your skin health.

Microneedling is considered safe when administered correctly and there is good knowledge of the underlying anatomy. However, due to physiological variation, there is always a risk of side-effects.
