Polynucleotides, otherwise known as PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide), are one of the forefront treatments in regenerative medicine. They are highly purified trout or salmon DNA which is injected into the skin. They stimulate fibroblast production, which in turn boosts collagen production, improves elasticity of the skin and hydrates it. Treatment can also improve scarring and hyperpigmentation, giving you rejuvenated skin.
Polynucleotides can be used in the face, neck, décolletage, hair (Plinest Hair) and in the under eyes (Plinest Eye). In some cases, Newest may be used, which combines the regenerative properties of polynucleotides with the hydrating properties of hyaluronic acid to give a youthful glow.
Prior to the appointment, you should not drink alcoholic or caffeinated beverages for at least 24 hours, and to stop applying tretinoin for at least 48 hours. You should avoid medications which can increase your risk of bleeding, like NSAIDs or aspirin, unless advised by your doctor in which case you should discuss with your practitioner.
During your appointment, medical grade prescribed numbing cream will be applied over the treatment areas for at least 20 minutes. Following this, the skin will be cleaned and small blebs of polynucleotides will be evenly distributed into the target areas. It will take up to 3 days for these lumps to fully subside.
Common side effects include bleeding, pain, bruising and swelling, with rarer complications including infection, prolonged pain and prolonged bleeding.
Results are normally seen within a few weeks, but continue to improve over the course of a few months. A course of three to five treatments is recommended, every three to four weeks. After this, maintenance treatments are advised every few months.
Polynucleotides are protein messengers extracted from highly purified fish DNA. They are known for their regenerative properties.
Polynucleotides are injected evenly throughout the target area. They stimulate fibroblast activity to enhance collagen production, repair tissue, reduce inflammation and scarring.
Polynucleotides are safe for almost all skin types, however, are not recommended for the following:
Polynucleotides can be used to rejuvenate the skin in the face, under eyes, neck and décolletage. They can also be used to improve hair growth in the scalp.
Common side effects include pain/stinging at the time of injection, small bumps at injection site, minor bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness. Rarely, side-effects can include infection or allergic reaction.
Whilst you will likely start to see an improvement in your skin after the first session, it is advised to have 3-5 sessions 3-4 weeks apart for best results. After these initial sessions, it is advised to have a maintenance session every 3-4 months
